Disability Insurance Updates The Standard

Standard Insurance has some updates as of the end of 2014.

As of December 31, 2014, The Standard will no longer offer disability insurance to chiropractors.  The Standard will accept individual disability insurance applications for chiropractors if the applications are signed by December 31, 2014 and received at The Standard’s home office by January 9, 2015.

As of December 31, 2014, the occupation class for dental hygienists will change from 2P to B.  Coverage will then only be available with Protector Essential.  Similar to the above change, The Standard will accept individual disability insurance applications for dental hygienists using the 2P occupation classes and for products other than Protector Essential if they are signed by December 31, 2014 and received at The Standard’s home office by January 9, 2015.

As of December 31, 2014, all Protector+ individually underwritten disability income insurance policies in Vermont, including those that are discounted, will use gender-distinct rates.Guarantee Issue policies will remain gender-neutral.  Future Purchase Options, as in other states, inherit the gender basis of their original policies.  December 31, 2014 is the last day to take individually underwritten applications in Vermont for Protector+ using gender-neutral rates.  The signed applications must be received at The Standard’s home office by January 9, 2015.
