If you are a medical resident ready to apply for a disability insurance policy, what is the process?

Step 1. Request a quote. Set for Life will create a comprehensive quote comparison of the top available policies in the marketplace with all of the available discounts.

Step 2. Decide which policy is best. We can help guide you through this part of the process to ensure the policy is most suitable for your current and future needs.

Step 3. Apply. This requires an initial application where they will ask you demographic information such as address, date of birth, what you are applying for, etc…

Step 4. You will be contacted to complete a health questionnaire asking you your medical history for the last 10 years. If you are applying for a GSI policy, this and part 5 are waived.

Step 5. The company will review all of this information and determine if they can make an offer or if they need to request more information. About half of the time they will request an attending physician statement/medical records. This can take 3 to 6 weeks to retrieve.

Step 6. Offer. The company will make an offer. Either approve, decline or a modification or exclusion. We can help advise you what is best at this time.

Step 7. We send you the policy for your review with delivery instructions.

At each point in the process, we help guide you and keep you in the loop.
