NFL players who are drafted and sign a contract are eligible to purchase an individual disability insurance policy. Disability insurance policies for professional football players pay out a lump sum if a player has a devastating injury.  This can be vital for a player to be able to sustain themselves financially if an injury occurs.

Premiums are based on the player’s age, position, and benefit amount.
