Effective immediately, Guardian upgraded the occupation class for all Family Medicine Physicians and most Internal Medicine Physicians from an Occupation Class 4M with the Preferred Occupation Discount to an Occupation Class 5M without the Preferred Occupation Discount.

Upgrading to a class 5M will result in approximately 10% reduction in premium.

The following Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Physician subspecialties are eligible for an Occupation
Class 5M:
• Family Medicine Board Certification
– No subspecialty certification
– Adolescent Medicine
– Geriatric Medicine
– Health Care Administration, Leadership, and Management
– Hospice and Palliative Medicine
– Pain Medicine
– Sleep Medicine
– Sports Medicine
• Internal Medicine Board Certification
– No subspecialty certification
– Adolescent Medicine
– Critical Care Medicine
– Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
– Gastroenterology
– Geriatric Medicine
– Hematology
– Hospice and Palliative Medicine
– Medical Oncology
– Nephrology
– Neurocritical Care
– Pulmonary Disease
– Sleep Medicine
– Sports Medicine
– Transplant Hepatology
